Today’s interview victim, er, volunteer is Lacie Grayson, author of S&M: Sex and Machinery, a collection of two short novellas with a steampunk and paranormal theme. Both stories and the extras within contain heavy BDSM themes and imagery that juxtaposes the nature of self within self and what it means to give oneself to another. S&M: Sex and Machinery is available for 99 cents at Smashwords.
Who are you and why are you here?
-I’m Lacie Grayson, and I’m here to promote my book. I’d also like some cookies.
Plug your book(s) in three sentences or less:
-S&M: Sex and Machinery is about steampunk and werewolves. There’s also a special story in there. There’s something for everyone.
What genre(s) do you write in? Why did you choose it?
-Mostly erotica with some sci-fi or slice of life. That’s where I found my niche. You know what they say, write what you know. If there is something I know more than being horny and stories about fictional creatures, I don’t know what it is yet.
Do you use a pen name? Why/why not? How did you choose it?
-Yes. This is it. I use it mostly for two reasons. The first is anonymity. The second is that nobody believes my name is my name in the first place. Lacie is an anagram of my favorite character ever, and Grayson is the last name of my favorite superhero.
Most writers are ‘different’ from the rest of the world in some way. What makes you different/odd/weird?
-I know more about Doctor Who than anyone I know. I’m the daughter of famous folks, well my dad is. My mum did a few porno flicks before I was born.
Where do you get your ideas? What motivates you?
-Life. My boyfriend was to blame for my last book. He’s Scottish. I get inspired by reading as well but, life is the best “hey…I could write…” Aside from that, I just have an uncanny drive to get things done.
What do you like on your pizza?
-As a topping, pepperoni and pineapple. For dipping either steak sauce or garlic butter.
What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
What do you wear to bed?
- A padlocked collar. That is all.
What is your ideal vacation?
-A quick, not-soul sucking flight to Scotland so I can take pictures with my Holga.
What’s the weirdest search term that led to your blog?
-geisha pussy fuck
And now for some either/or questions: Bath or shower?
Mayo or Miracle Whip?
Cat person or dog person?
Chocolate or vanilla?
-Chocolate, unless I can get choconilla.
The book or the movie?
-Usually the book.
Floss or brush?
Phone call or email?
Bonus question: What is the airspeed velocity of a coconut-laden swallow?
-African or European?
