Fall in Love and Stay in Love

fall in love giveaway hop

The Fall In Love Giveaway hop was organized by Reading Romances!

I hesitated writing this post because I have a strong aversion to marketing on holidays, but when I enrolled in this hop, I didn’t notice the date, so I suppose that’s my fault. But it’s the Fall in Love Giveaway Hop. How can falling in love be wrong?

So I’m writing about a man I fell in love with recently. Not my husband (shh… don’t tell). My husband and I have been together over 20 years, so that falling in love stage is long past. No, today I’m writing about the romance hero who stole my heart and won’t give it back, my Jack Wheeler, from Secret Storm.

I met Jack while writing my first romance novel, Tell Me You Want Me. He’s Austin’s best friend, his rock and his shelter. Jack is the kind of man you can run to when you need help, or run from when you’re on a football field. But he has a secret, stormy past. (See what I did there? ;) ) Meh, sounds like a lot of romance heroes.

So what makes Jack special? Maybe Sara can explain it:

Why him? Why not Austin or any of the other guys she’d dated before Jack? Why not someone she might date after him? A determined smile curled her lips as the answer came to her. She wanted Jack because she was just as stubborn as he was.

She could’ve tried harder with David. He’d made her feel good—until he cheated—but even before that, she’d craved a man who challenged her, a man who made her feel strong when things got out of control and life got stormy, a man who put his needs before hers whether she wanted him to or not.

She laughed. “Oh, Jack, you have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself in to.”

I’ve never been happier with my life since I became a full-time writer, and yet every time I sniff (allergies) or if I frown while contemplating my next story, my husband never fails to notice. “Are you okay? Are you crying?”

“I’m fine. It’s just a sniff.” And I roll my eyes.

He leaves his dirty socks on the floor, he doesn’t know where the trash can is, and he tells me ‘we’ need to work harder at potty training Energizer Toddler when he’s never changed a dirty diaper. My husband challenges me every. single. day. But we’re celebrating our 21st anniversary next month. Why?

Because we’re both too damn stubborn to give up. He takes care of me whether I need it or not, he encourages my dreams, and he’s the best daddy our little girl could ever have. Falling in love is easy. Staying in love takes work.

Jack has loved Sara since the moment they met, but their relationship takes hard work. They’re both too stubborn to give up and that’s why they’ll stay in love.

Please take a moment to check out the giveaway. I’m happy to introduce Jack to a new reader because once he captures your heart, he’ll never let go.

About Amelia James

Amelia James started reading steamy romance novels in junior high, but her mom took them away from her, so she started daydreaming instead. After she got married, she wrote some of her naughtier daydreams down and sent them to Playgirl magazine. Two of them got published. She kept daydreaming and writing stories until her dirty stories turned into trashy books. She lives in Colorado, but she’ll always be a loyal Wisconsin Cheesehead. When she’s not lusting after her next bad boy hero, she looks for inspiration in sci-fi and action movies, football players, bloodsucking lawyers, muscle cars, and kick-butt chicks.

Thanks for the giveaway!!! I love every character I encounter during my reading. Especially the ones that are broken and tortured inside and need some loving to bandage it up. They can be dark and mysterious, tall and dangerous, smart and weak, sly and humorous; I love them all!

Love this and i agree, it takes hard work staying together, but boy, it´s worth it. Sure, it was fun in the beginning with butterflies and feelings all over the place, but this feeling is even better, you can trust him and you know each other, and it´s just Home being together *happy sigh*
To answer your question =) i usually fall in love with a Hero that´s flawed, i don´t want him too perfect, that´s just a turn off for me. Flawed, capable and a bit of a bad boy, =) or at least dirty minded LOL
Thanks for the giveaway & Happy Sunday!

If the author can make me feel what the character is feeling I can usually develop a really good connection with that character. I find myself attached, and have even fallen in love with a few characters out of a few good books.

  9. Che Sao says:

I tend to romanticize things and fall for the characters who need help. Or I go for the kind of guy that I like in real life – I love a sense of humor.

  10. ELF says:

I love characters who learn (or already know) how to love deeply and loyally, who are protective of those they care for and who can learn from their mistakes and can laugh at themselves.

  11. Sherry S. says:

I love characters that have are honest, strong and treats their husband/wife like they are everything to them.

  12. bn100 says:

the way the character is written

  13. Judy says:

I love characters who make me feel for them. The best books are the ones that I am laughing out loud, or repeating a phrase to myself or others, or just making put the book down because I am sooo embarrassed for the character. They are almost real. Those are the characters that I love the best.
